It has been 100 days since ISEC acquired VISATEC and embarked on the exciting journey of joining the two companies. During these initial days, weeks, and months, it has become clear that the companies share more common ground than initially anticipated, and new opportunities have already emerged

Here, CEO Fredrik Sjöholm reflects on the ongoing transformation:

“We are now able to serve multiple different customer needs and requirements. We are also a stronger company with more resources and well-positioned to further develop a robust supply chain for the benefit of our customers. The benefits we’ve seen so far have even exceeded what we initially anticipated ahead of the merger”, says Fredrik Sjöholm.

Advancing our market offer

In the integration process, it has been essential to learn how to leverage the synergies from a joint offering, while integrating the new offers into already established sales channels.

“Our customers now benefit from a more comprehensive and complementary offering, with new products and services that clearly make a difference in the ongoing transformation of the nuclear industry”, says Fredrik Sjöholm.

Another focus area has been on an organisational level, including IT infrastructure and administrative functions, such as finance and marketing.

“It has been a priority to seamlessly incorporate VISATEC into our ecosystem, with aligned communication and shared infrastructure. The focus has been to  enhance our internal efficiency while maintaining productivity, and importantly without disturbing our day-to-day operations”, says Fredrik Sjöholm.

While there have been many positive outcomes so far, CEO, Fredrik Sjöholm has also realized that time is an important component in the journey of change.

“We are eager and want to capitalize on all the benefits straight away – but some things cannot be rushed. We need to have everyone on board, guard us with patience, and very importantly, communicate as changes and integration unfold”, says Fredrik Sjöholm.

Combining the corporate cultures

Post-merger, as the corporate cultures blend, it has been noted how similar the companies are. However, there are cultural differences to be navigated, respectively, between Sweden and Germany.

“In its corporate DNA, ISEC and VISATEC very much resemble each other, both have founders of entrepreneurial spirit, a supportive and family-like atmosphere, and employees with a strong foundation in technology and how to best use it for the benefits of our joint customers”, says Fredrik Sjöholm.

The difference, however, lies in the management style. In Sweden, corporations operate with a consensus approach, while hierarchy and formal structures are more prominent in Germany.

“I am a strong advocate for an open and transparent discussion forum in the organisation, where everyone can make suggestions and come up with input. Both corporate cultures bring valuable elements to our organisation and combining them creates a fun and enriching environment that fosters learning for everyone”, says Fredrik Sjöholm.

Developing a competitive offer

Furthermore, the news of the acquisition has been well-received by customers, suppliers, vendors and partners. Looking ahead, the continued consolidation will involve further work to identify additional synergies as well as new product development building on both companies strengths and competences.

“We are looking forward to solidifying our new combined offer towards the market. This groundwork sets the foundation for a strong future – benefiting our customers and strengthening our industry position”, says Fredrik Sjöholm.
